Dear Chilliwack Minor Baseball Members,
Thank you for your on going patience as we all continue to watch the effects of the COVID-19 virus on all our lives.
On behalf of CMBA, we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all the frontline workers and their families that are making sacrifices daily on behalf of all of us, your dedication to our well-being is appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
We face many challenges as individuals and families with self-isolation, social distancing, self-quarantine as well as the uncertainty of our employment and children’s education. These are stressors above and beyond those already faced in our day to day lives with this pandemic and we here at CMBA do not want to add to any of those stressors.
Since our last email update, CMBA has continued to follow the recommendations of our healthcare officials, the government and our baseball governing bodies. We have reached out to neighbouring baseball communities and the consensus is that when allowed we would like to be able to offer some sort of baseball programming once safe to do so.
CMBA executive is meeting to discuss possible contingency plans via online video conferencing. We realize that once decisions have been reached by both health officials, government and CMBA, we will be in a unique position, given the multiple thoughts and opinions of our members. Some will be itching to get out on the field, others will want a refund and others will be undecided on what route is best for their family.
Our goal is to be able to meet everyone’s needs once final decisions have been made. We appreciate that some of you want answers now but unfortunately, with so much uncertainty we aren’t able to do that for you and we ask that we all sit tight and await direction.
We want to assure you that once we are allowed back on the fields, we will offer something for your child to participate in. We also hope to offer extensive summer programming for your children so that families can still get their baseball fix in. While we are making plans for a modified season and hope everyone will be able to participate in some baseball experience this season, we recognize it may not work for everyone and will work with each families needs.
Your patience and understanding is appreciated as we navigate through these uncertain times. This hasn’t been easy on any of us and like you, we look forward to life resuming to some level of normalcy for us all.
